Asked to produce a direct mail campaign that would drive people to Portland“s web site, McCann Erickson working in partnership with ProCo devised a solution using digital print technology coupled with a high degree of personalisation.
Challenge. Portland Holidays, a member of No.1 global holidays company, World of TUI, wanted to say thank-you to its customers and to update its contact records. It offered the chance to win free holidays to anyone visiting the Portland website and registering their details. To drive visitors to the site, Portland needed an effective direct marketing campaign.
Solution. Challenged to produce the campaign, McCann Erickson partnered with ProCo to produce highly personalized mailers that would have the "standout" factor. Over 27.000 mailers were sent out showing individual recipients' names written in the sand of a beach scene created using DirectSmile technology.
Results. A good response rate for such a campaign would be 5% but this project brought between 12 and 14% response for Portland! It provided the agency with the power to create ever more impressive and successful direct mail campaigns for their clients.
